The Startled Gazette doesn't quite know what it wants to be yet, although utterly ridiculous is most likely.

Current fandoms:

  • Dragon Age
  • Homestuck...?
  • Discworld forever

Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor, here extensively messed with by the Startled Gazette

Feeling nostalgic for Swordspoint. In the beginning of the book, Richard St. Vier is running from a garden party where he’d just killed some dudes (don’t worry, it was all legal swordfightery stuff) because he didn’t really want to be badgered by curious rich people all evening. He legit jumps over the garden wall to do so.
I feel you there, socially awkward Richard. I feel you.

Have I reblogged this before?
I do not care.  Because I just love this too much not to.

If you haven’t read Swordspoint, you might oughta. Not that there aren’t seriously clever and good-looking men in love with one another in your usual diet, but this one has swords.

Awwwwww

I had some thoughts on this too, and thank you for articulating what I hadn’t yet managed to coalesce out of some disparate feelings of discomfort.

I did think there was one mitigating factor…

Okay, so I missed that bit, and it is awesome. I’ll add it to my overall incohoate feelings about this game. Thank you for showing me.

Now, see, that scene actually made it worse for me.

They almost gave him some proper characterization, and then undercut it for a tease and a joke, as if they wanted to emphasize to all the potential players who might consider romancing him that clearly he’s not actually date material.
